R2π is a four-handed project born from the organic fusion of Retina.it (Lino Monaco and Nicola Buono), Prg/m (Pier Giuseppe Mariconda), and Ruhig (Luigi Cicchella), three solid names in Italian techno who, after pursuing very different paths, decided to combine their ideas in this new project. A "triangulation" of three energetic elements from Campania, they create a perfect "squaring of the circle," a holistic ensemble where the souls are still distinguishable but where the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts.
Thermastris
Among the practices that ultimately formed the protean bedrock of Hellenic cultural forms, rites, cults, and religiosity held a privileged place, and among them dance played a fundamental role, not only a playful element but a true objectification of a thought deeply imbued and contaminated by ritual and mysticism. As a response to chaos, Greek dance condenses into two distinct moments: Ethos and Pathos, the elegant and solemn Xyphismòs (the sword dance) and the liberating and exorcising Thermastris (the dance of convulsive movements).
In these years marked by "weak thought," or the loss of the foundational conception of philosophy, the dissolution of ultimate foundations, incontrovertible principles, clear and distinct ideas, absolute values, the electronic sounds of synthesizers, and the images of visuals are nothing more today than the detritus of sediments and masses that over the years and across space have accreted to become the generative matrix of new types of "geometric" dances, paroxysmal dances that dress up as modern Thermastris.
