Composed in 2024, these tracks largely originate from a self-built modular synthesizer:
an unstable system, a reactive circuit.
This first installment in a series of digital releases inaugurates Retina.it's personal label, "Circle of Perseverance," works on the reiteration of a rhythmic geometry.
A pattern that returns, bends, and reformulates. The more we explore it, the more it changes the listening experience. Repetition isn't stasis. It's slow exploration.
Between minimalism, kraut drifts, ambient and fragments of IDM.

"Amabilis Insania," Retina.it's first LP release since 2012, marks a significant return for the duo after more than a decade. The album is a profound exploration of the themes of resilience, renewal, and organic growth; drawing inspiration from the philosophical ideas of Immanuel Kant, particularly his concept of the sublime. The title, which translates to "Lovely Madness," serves as an invitation to delve into the album’s deep philosophical underpinnings.
In "Amabilis Insania," Retina.it explores the philosophical dichotomy between the Beautiful and the Sublime, a theme central to Kant’s "Critique of Judgment." Kant posits that the sublime is a complex pleasure derived from the interplay of fear and safety, as well as disharmony and transcendence. This idea stands in contrast to the serenity and harmony associated with the beautiful. The album reflects on these concepts, inviting listeners to experience the tension between these opposing forces.
The album captures the essence of overcoming adversity and emerging stronger, symbolizing the resilience inherent in the human spirit. Its musical journey mirrors the cyclical patterns of nature, embracing themes of death and renewal as part of a continuous cycle of growth. Throughout the album, Retina.it juxtaposes the sublime’s awe-inspiring qualities with the tranquil aspects of beauty, creating a dynamic interplay between chaos and order.

"Ops_ci is the "osco" word to define the people who lived in southern Italy before Rome's rise. They were worshipers of Ops, the goddess of abundance, often represented with a cornucopia, from which emerged material desires. Due to its characteristic shape reminiscent of a wormhole, in which you can travel through time, the cornucopia represents for us the process of this work: a journey through time in the repechage of old tracks set aside in a remote area of our hard drives a while ago." “Descending into crevasse” is a sort of metaphor. An ipotetic journey between the gorges of eternal ices, such as a travel inside ourself researching reassuring corners. A flux of muffled and confused memories, frosted in a wave moving like an algorithm.

Midgar is paying tribute to the Pompeian duo, whose life has been entirely dedicated to music.
